-OBTAINING EGGS FOR EXPERIMENTS-

1. Sign Up: Sign-up sheet is in lab (KKI 534) door. You can only sign up for 3 days at a time. Two people may sign up per day. A third person may sign up for any "left-over" eggs. The first person who signs primes. If you cancel, you must inform others.

2. Prime:

Use only animals alloted for that day (on Frog Room calendar).

Fill each priming container with approx. 0.5 L of 1X MMR. 

Prepare the needle with 0.4 cc of hormone per frog.

Using an autoclaved net, get animal from designated tank and inject.

Place in priming container and secure lid with a heavy object.

3. Put Back animals.

The last person to use the frogs for the day is responsible for put back. DO NOT leave animals in priming containers for more than ~24 hours.  When finished using for the day return animals to the designated  ‘put-back’ tank for the week. 

4. Clean Up.

Clean tanks by rinsing with warm water and removing any eggs with scrubbing. Place on blue drying rack to be autoclaved.
